We are please to announce that we have added an eighth calculator to our free online traffic calculators. The new calculator is an Engset Calculator, and is available at http://www.erlang.com/calculator/engset/.
The Engset traffic model is used to calculate the number of lines that should be engineered on a trunk group when the traffic offered to that trunk group is being generated by a finite number of sources. It is typically applied to engineering trunk groups connected to smaller PBXs and to the design of line concentrators.

The Engset traffic model has also been added to VoIP Select, our flexible telecommunications calculation tool. VoIP Select includes eight stock calculators (including the new Engset Calculator), and provides tools for you to design your own calculators Erlang B, Extended Erlang B and Engset.
VoIP Select also offers VoIP bandwidth calculations and takes into account the overheads introduced by RTP, cRTP, RTCP and various layer two protocols including PPP, Frame Relay, ATM and Ethernet.
