Received the following question from a contact:-

Question: What 5G core is available except the ones from (Affirmed) and (Mavenir)?

A key requirement for 5GC – 5G Core – is to have a Cloud native (virtualised) environment that supports a Service Based Architecture – SBA. The Cloud environment can use GCP, Azure, AWS, etc.. The key here is that an IT Micro-Services Architecture (MSA) is used with “containers” for the numerous Network Functions (NFs).

5GC – 5G Core – can be sourced from Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia. The ongoing 5G journey will see the onboarding of a number of IT players that can build, verify and deliver the Network Functions.
