The Sipera VIPER Lab, which is operated by Sipera Systems, has a warning for Vonage, Globe7 and Grandstream users – they are open to VoIP identity theft, eavesdropping, spam, and even denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. To educate the masses, Sipera has posted complete details on the vulnerabilities right here. Specifically in terms of Vonage, Sipera’s research points to Vonage’s VoIP Motorola Phone Adapter (VT 2142-VD) and Vonage service implementations, which they feel leaves Vonage users open to a “registration replay attack” where hackers impersonate the victim.
