You can reset the password by connecting a PC to the console port of the D3000 (using a standard serial cable), running hyperterminal (38400, none, 8, 1, no flow), power the tenor off, then back on and when you see the message to “hit enter within 3 seconds…”, hit enter and choose modify. Go through the boot menu and the last question will be to rest the unit to factory default. You will need to answer Yes to this. This will erase your entire configuration including the password, but will not erase the IP address, subnet or default gateway, so will still be able to access the unit from IP. Finish going through the menu and then when the unit comes back up, there will be no password set and you will need reconfigure the unit.
