As a frequent traveller I want to ‘skype’ or voip from any place in the world without bringing my laptop. I managed to run skype from a usb drive but in some cases the host computer (internet cafe)does not allow to run the program, not enough privilages.
So I am looking for a web based service like webmessenger.msn.com for voip.
So all I have to bring is my userid/password and headset.
There are numerous “click2dial” applications, but typically this is an ActiveX control, which will have to get access to your computer’s microphone and speakers – so there is a high chance that on the workstation in an Internet cafe ActiveX execution will be disabled (or will very limited access to resources) due to security reasons.
