    Can anyone pls explain to me in plain english what proxy is?

    Also.. do you know if the linksys pap2na can work without the proxy… can it connect directly?

    In a nutshell SIP Proxy is used to map SIP telephone numbers (or URLs) to IP address. Think of it as reverse 411.
