i am out in the bush of northern ontario and have sattelite with direcway , works well ! anyone have experience with VOIP over this type of connection. i have a bell radio phone now and …. i need something more reliable. a couple of speed tests have shown around 600 kbps down and between 60 and 200 kbps up
any advice would be appreciated
You could get a SIPURA or an ATA186 and connect to one of hundred of service providers, In Canada I have worked with http://www.lookieloo.ca you can contact them to get Canada and US access from a SIPURA box, or you can get a vonage box and get an Ontario local number forwarded to your IP device, I hope this helped.
i have been testing the speed at various times of the day and have got wildly varying resulte . download from 30 to 602 kbps and uploads from from 10 to 195 kbps .
any insight as to whether VOIP will work with these results ?
