    Hi there,

We are in the process of upgrading our VOIP network because of increased demand. The problem that we have is that the PABX is some 200-m away from the router. Due to some physical limitations we can not bring these items any closer. We intend to employ E1 cards in the router (Cisco 3640) as well as the PABX. The PABX vendor has indicated that there is no problem with that kind of distance. However, we are not sure about the router E1 capability in pumping baseband data at 2048 kbps over 200-m (650 feet). We need your help please.

Should be no problem, just set your cable length to long. I forgot the IOS command but its under the controller t1 config.

Another method would be to use a media converter to fiber or to install a repeater at the router to boost the signal
