I’m a little confused about when a cbch would be used. Is it necessary for M-M SMS?
CBCH is mainly intended for SMS Cell Broadcast Feature. For point-to-point SMS, There is no need for CBCH , You use only SDCCH.
That’s correct!
Point-to-point sms is also transferred on SACCH or FACCH if MS is in busy state.

Can you explain at what situations SMS is send through FACCH and SACCH ?
Normally if MS-is IDLE Then it utilises SDCCH and if it is Busy then FACCH.
