Idle Time Slot for Abis

    Hi,

    Can anyone help me how can we calculate the number of Idle time slot required for an Abis interface of GSM?

    Hi,

    the Abis does not need any idle timselot. So the answer is “zero”.

    I assume you want to compute how many Abis TS are used by the BTS, and how many are left ? Am I right ?

    if i have one E1 in gsm and 6 TRU then how we calculate Idle time slot

    OML needs 1 timeslot (64kbps) = 4 sub timeslots (16kbps)
    RSL for S4/4/4 = 6 timeslots (64kbps) = 24 sub timeslots (16kbps)
    TCH for S4/4/4 = (12 TRXs x 8 TCHs) – (3 BCCHs) – (6 SDCCHs) = 87 sub

    So you have 128-4-24-87=13 16k(4, 64k) ts for abis ts

    4 for Synchronization
    4 for OML
    8 for TRx(2 for Rsl)
    IF config is 2,2,2
    4+4+(10*6)=68 are used
    128-68=60 Idle Time slots
