    It depend on hove many TRX’s do you have in a cell. If You have two then it is recomended to create 2 TS in a cell, but also you have to have on TRX0 TS0 BCCH whole for him self ( not combined with SDCCH, because of AGCH, PCH and RACH ). Be careful not to take TS if you need it for speech or data.

    Thanks Jernej, I knew this empirical rule but I’m looking for a theoretical rule. I mean: to dimension SDCCH we use Erlang B with B=0.2% but I’m not sure that it’s correct. An other question: how to reduce load drop on SDCCH?

    I have written a tool for SDCCH dimensioning. The number of SDCCH in a cell will be calculated from these input parameters:

    + Number of TRX.
    + Ratio of Location update to calls
    + Ratio of SMS to calls
    + Blocking probability for SDCCH
    + Blocking probability for TCH
    + etc.

    The theoretical rule is complex. If you are interested in this tool, give your email.
