Bad voice quality ALu B10

    Hi All,

    This is our Update on AMR, we set up B11 Ed 1.3 and we had to turn off AMR as it leads to drop call, TAC is preparing a patch to solve the Issue.

    Anybody had upgraded to B11 Ed1.3 ??

    Hi Ian,

    Have you tried to exclude 7950 bps codec?
    ALU don’t recommend to activate it

    Also you thresholds settings are incorect, this is for 3 codec AMR

    For 4 codec AMR AMR_FR_Thr3> AMR_FR_Thr2.

    What would you you recommand in term of codec activation and Thresholds ?

    what version of ALU are you running now ? we had just migrated to B11 ed1.3.

    Hi Ian,

    I would set the thresholds to higher C/I values. You shouldn’t try to keep high codec rate such as 12.2 for wide C/I range, because it provide good MOS only for very good radio conditions.
    So the thresholds settings depends on the radio conditions you have in your network.
    This is for 4 codec AMR_FR and 3 codec for AMR_HR

    Codecs:
    AMR_FR_4750bps
    AMR_FR_5900bps
    AMR_FR_7400bps
    AMR_FR_12200bps

    AMR_HR_4750bps
    AMR_HR_5900bps
    AMR_HR_7400bps

    Thresholds:
    AMR_FR_HYST (dB) 1.5
    AMR_FR_THR_1 (dB) 7.5
    AMR_FR_THR_2 (dB) 11
    AMR_FR_THR_3 (dB) 14

    AMR_HR_HYST (dB) 1.5
    AMR_HR_THR_1 (dB) 11.5
    AMR_HR_THR_2 (dB) 14.5
    AMR_HR_THR_3 (dB) 16

    B11 MR3 Ed1.1

    Hi all,
    we tried to use just 7,4 and 5,9 because of TFO_AMR_NB problems when the 4,75 is active.
    What are the optimal values for AMR_HR_THR1,AMR_HR_THR2 and AMR_HR_THR3 and AMR_HR_HYST when just two codecs are configured?
