traffic balance between 900&1800

    Hello,

    I’m working in a Huawei network (BSC6000). We are using dual band cells. The DCS1800 cell is having congestion, while the GSM900 not. I want to shift some traffic from DCS1800 to GSM900 in order to avoid congestion. GSM900 is layer3 and DCS1800 is layer 2. All HO parameters have default values. Please tell me which and how to tune this parameters in order to balance the load and eliminate congestion at DCS1800.

    Down tilt 1800 cells. Parameters won’t do you favor. By the way what is your configuration? i.e how many trxz do you have for 1800 and 900 cells respectively?

    hi Alexia,

    Thanks for responding.
    The site has full configuration for both bands 4/4/4.
    The tilts for 1800 cells are:
    cell_1 5 mechanic, 3 electric
    cell_2 5 mechanic, 1 electric
    cell_3 4 mechanic, 0 electric

    The site is a high site at the top of a hill and has a wide coverage area.

    Maybe your 900 layer is not so clear like 180.Check for possible interference at 900MHz(bad quality at 900 can be a reason)

    Hi GSM,

    I work with a small network optimization team, and i think i would have known if a college has joint this forum.

    Regarding the interference, in this case there is no interference in these cells.

    What about 900 tilts,they have to be at least 3 deegres less than 1800.Anyway i will try tomorrow to sugest some parameters for traffic balance.

    Yes, 900 cells electrical tilt is 3 degrees less then 1800, that is a standard i guess, because it is used in all dual band cells.

    you are right,default tilts are as you said but every case should be specific.please give me some minutes and i will suggest some parameters that you can test

    Hi hekri

    I suppose u have default parameters so you have Layer HO threshold set to 25 on 900 and 1800.
    To optimize the traffic change the Layer HO threshold on 1800 from 25 to 40. i think u will get some good results 🙂

    Hi Eagle, seems that you are not soffering from trafic balance between 900 and 1800 layer.You just need some sugestion regarding frequecy plan that you want to use in Shkodra area.About layer threshold i sugest exact value 27.Try it and tell me
