BSC to MGW through Ater

    Hi,

    Is it possible to directly connect a GSM BSC to a MGW through Ater interface. Or does it necessarly needs the signal to be transcoded first to PCM ?

    it depends if the MGW can perform all the functions of the TRAU or not (TFO negociation, Ater resources management, AMR codec adaptation, etc) (i guess there are more things)

    Basically, the TC is part of the BSS, and there are some proprietary improvements, I assume…

    for directly connect a SIEMENS BSC to a NOKIA MGW, which functions must be done in both sides?
