800MHz band scan

What is the best way to scan the 800MHz band? Is it doable same way drive test is done or it has to be done on selected locations on top of the tower or masts? Mobile scanning is easier to do but i don’t know how reliable the result would be since it will use low gain omni car mounted antennas and may only detect broadcast signals that strong enough for the scanner to received. It might not be able to detect point to point signals and other transmissions. Maybe it can be used to baseline the whole band and do a more detailed scan later. I might be using Anritsu Spectrum analyzer for this.
