anyone know what is the flow about cell update in packet idle mode(ready state)? and is it different from that in packet transfer mode?hello ray,
in PIM there is no cell update, only RA update.
cell update means that the MS will inform the network that it enters a new cell. it is the “cell reselection” procedure. It involves a specific packet procedure only in PTM. In PIM, the MS does not inform the BSS that it entered a new cell.
