I am trying to find out how does MTP Layer 2 react if MTP Layer 3 suddenly goes down due to sudden fatal hardware failure on the hosting server?
Today one of our Sun server hang suddenly due to hardware failure and I assume MTP Layer 3 has no processing capability at all. Problem is signaling link remain aligned and active from remote end point of view and traffic was sent continuously to the server which was hanging.
I assume MTP2 should take action to bring down the links if it detected that MTP3 is no longer responding?
MTP2 main goal is to manage point to point connection regardless of addresses or upper layers data. When MTP3 is in down there will be just FISU (and LSSU) on link between two points.
