EFR vs AMR FR

    Hello,
    How to enhance usage of EFR in stead of AMR FR in the case the mobile supports both of them??

    Hello,

    EFR and AMR FR “12.2” provide the same voice quality because it is exactly the same codec.

    Why do you want to force EFR rather than AMR FR ? All MS can support EFR, so your question should be :
    “How to forbid usage of AMR FR ? … How to force all MS in EFR only”

    … just disable AMR FR ! 🙂

    Thanks Pix,
    But There are other AMR codecs uses .For example in our network there’s up to 4 AMR codecs supportded?
    So, is it better to use AMR FR which codec is different from 12.2 or EFR from the begininig??

    Ohter codecs are used only if the C/I degrades. In which case, the EFR will get too interfered and speech frames are lost.

    Under bad C/I, it is better to use lower codec rather than EFR. That is actually the whole point of AMR 🙂

    We are using Rx lev in dbm ,how c/i calcute in DB.

    hi jeet,

    c/i is a difference of two rxlev’s.

    rxlev(C) = -70dBm
    rxmev(I) = -90dBm

    therefore C/I = -70 – (-90) = +20dB

    dB is not a proper unit. it is only a “tool” to compare two levels in dBm.

    jeet – timeslot is alternatively sent to one antenna or the other (works only if 2 antennas per sector)

    Hi ,
    We are experiencing call quality as PSTN calls via the GSM network .Can AMR assist or does the call quality interference happens due to compatibility issues with the GSM and PSTN equipment
