Hey all, I have two questions
1. DOes DTX work in both uplink and downlink? If it works in UL only, what is transmitted on the other (DL) end at that time?
2. Why cannot we use hopping on BCCH timeslot? We can let the MS know of the hopping sequence beforehand and both the BTS and MS can synchronize themselves and hop.

1. DL and UL DTX are both working independently. You can activate one of them, or both.
While UL DTX is ON, the UL timeslots contain no power when there is silence. But DL timeslots are sent with power.There is no link between them : I can talk (UL), or you can talk (DL), or you can remain silent while I’m talking, etc. Each direction is totally independent.
