Advantage of call setup without SDCCH.

    Hi all,

    I assume that CALL SETUP on FACCH is also termed as DIRECT ASSIGNMENT OF TCH by some vendors.

    Question which arises is……

    If RACH can tell network that give me SDCCH for TCH, then

    On the other hand the network can have two options…
    1) Full fill the request of MS as indicated in RACH.

    2) Give him TCH directly.

    THEN WHY??

    Such a good feature(2 above) is left to optimizer to choose or not.

    Dear Friend,

    yes, Call setup on FACCH is also termed as Direct TCH Assignment. Basically this feature is optional.

    The Direct TCH Assignment is used in order to decrease time needed for call set up in such a way that
    authentication and ciphering are excluded.

    Direct TCH assignment is used for emergency calls when usually authentication and ciphering are excluded and the call set up is provided up to 1 second instead of standardtime frame from 3 to 4 seconds.
