i would like to get your suggestion. i would like to secure my network (though it is already running on a private IP Backbone)on serious network threats that would possibly harm our network. what factors do i need to consider? i mean, i know firewalls are one of data comm equipment for security but i dont really know how to get a good one. and is there anything that would add a firewall in securing a network?

You better hire a security guard.
or better supermanfirewall is the main solution to protect a network. why don’t you look around on internet to find which vendor propose reliable/professional firewalls ?

it is a very complicated matter, network security.. if you don’t know what to get, then i’m afraid you should not be in charge of finding a firewall 🙂 because finding one is easy, but configuring & maintaining it is the tough part..
