waiting for your answer pix, i tried to look for the answer but i couldnt find the significance of 15 seconds anywhere.

Hello Radiated,
Nice nickname ! How do you recognize a good GSM radio engineer ?
Headaches, Hair loss and Sterile :))
More seriously, the answer is in 3GPP 45.008
Chapter 6.6.2 Path loss criteria and timings for cell re selection
ii) b. in case of a cell reselection occurring within the previous 15 seconds in which case the C2 value for the new cell shall exceed the C2 value of the serving cell by at least 5 dB for a period of 5 seconds.
Basically, it means that there is an anti ping-pong mechanism during reselection, which lasts 15s, and applies a 5dB margin to all neighbour cells.
Do you agree ?
Best regards,
Pix

it’s quite difficult to find questions which are not vendor-dependent…
Let’s go, easy one :
* What is the SACCH periodicity on a Dedicated channel (TCH and SDCCH) ?
Arsal Guest
Its 120 ms & 235 ms for TCH & SDCCH repectively.
Regards
Arsal
Bilal Guest
I think for SDCCH it is 471ms.
paraHO Guest
The SACCH periodicity SDCCH 470.2ms
The SACCH periodicity TCH 480ms

and the winner is …
paraHO !!!!
:))
finally, we have a winner !
do you have a question for us ?
paraHO Guest
Thanks Pix… ๐
ok…this is hopefully easy-ish question.
LAPDm: there are a number of classes associated with handling for short message service:
How many classes are there and what class reference is given to each?
Bilal Guest
I am aware of SAPI 3 only
paraHO Guest
Agree Bilal, SAPI3 is assigned specifically for SMS text.
LAPDm: the classes associated with handling SMS there are:
Annex F
Six classes and they are Class A to F as set out in e.g.
3GPP TS04.11 v7.1.0 (2000-09) Release 98 or if you want to go back further ETS 300 559: September 1995 (GSM 04.11 version 4.8.0)
pix Guest
and what are the differences between each classes ?
i guess i could have a look to the 3gpp later…
paraHO Guest
I have tried five time to put up the class A to F but it seem the website is allowing it to be posted.
