How does one size a telephony system (pre-paid calling cards) when the only data the customer gives is the number of subscribers he plans to have?

I know of the figure of 0.1 Erlangs per subscriber but is that relevant to a system like this?

    Thanks

    Let us assume:
    Subscriber: 1000
    Call/Subscriber/hour : 2 times
Length per call : 3 minutes 0.05 Erlang
    Erlang per sub:
as you said 0.1Erlang 6 minutes

    Then
    system capability is:
    0.1*1000=100 Erlang
    or
    0.05*2*1000=100 Erlang

    Define your blocking rate
    such as 0.01, 0.05, 0.1

Then you can count out from Erlang table for your size of your system.
    0.05*

Generally, on pre-paid platforms the traffic is still considered random but their peak hours are different, their retrial rate is higher, and the average hold time is longer. Extended Erlang B may be able to give you a better picture. Also 17-20% of the possible traffic from pre-paid calls are not used. i.e. 100 minute cards 20 mins not used…on the average.
