    gents,
    purpose of media gateway in 3g is to carry payload and to bridge between different transport technologies.it can be considered as a switch between two transport modes.for example suppose a caller from PSTN network call a 3g subs.the payload from PSTN may be TDM is converted at media gateway into IP/ATM payload for its further propagation upto MS.

    NODE B TO RNC payload over ATM as VCIs.

    gents,

    i feel most of the members in this discusion board are from india working in indian mobile field. 3G is still to be implemented over there thats why no one is available with informations.

    Dear 3G teams,

    I would like to know about FDD and TDD, FDD is common used.

    Do anyone explain me, why FDD is used for UMTS ? high rate will be on TDD ? am I right

    there is number of SC in AS.
    could some one explane waht dose affect ?

    Hi BEN,

    too many parameter/item on 3G KPI, as I know, since there are dominants SC/server, it looks OK.

    AS = active set and NS = neighbor set.

    My point is what dose affect this KPI.
    “the number of Scrambling Code in the Active Set”

    Take exemple, if we see in area that the % of SC in AS is 65% equal to 5 => waht we can say in this case ?

    Hi BEN,

    as I know, 3G has mas 3 SC on AS.
    it might be CDMA 1x can have 5 SC on AS.

    Yes, many SC can effect KPI (like interfere, capacity)

    And I think 3/5 SC on AS depend on handset as rake receiver.
