Can somebody please tell me how the carried traffic is calculated in Motorola BSS.

HuniCarried traffic can be obtained by counter MEAN_BUSY_TCH. The are counters for inner and outer zone as well.

From the daily stats that I get from OMC the traffic carried is more than the planned traffic of the cell.

you should post the values you’re getting, so we can see how it looks like (provide TRX configuration of the cell too).
usually you have the traffic in erlang at the busy hour, or the traffic in erlang for the 24 hours of the day.
The latter is a sum, so it can get very high.
