SDCCH fro Multiband cell.

    Hi,
    i am ericsson system. here i found that if sdcch is declared in 1800 (ol) then its takes no traffic.
    i dont no why?

    can anyone explian it?

    Hi Am,

    I am also operating dual-band network(1800/900) and found that SDCCH usage at overlaid subcell is very low. Actually, SDCCH traffic exist, but very small.

    The only explanation, which I can imagine – is that 900 cell signal strength is much bigger, than 1800.
    Usualy, I have SDCCH/8(NCOMB BCCH MODE) at underlaid 1800 and SDCCH/8 at 900 overlaid cell.

    So usually – all SDCCH traffic comes first to 1800 cell, then to 900. If you have no overload of SDCCH traffic at 900 cell – you will not see traffic at 1800 as well.

    But SDCCH traffic at 1800 exist, if you have no IDLE SDCCH at 900 cell.

    The SDCCH traffic is in that cell where you make the MSs to camp in idle mode. There are different strategies. For example Idle mode on 900 only (you play with cell bar qualify or C2 criteria) and as call starts (so its the SDCCH on 900) capture handover to 1800 (or whatever handover is called by the vendor). The result is no traffic on SDCCH on 1800.
    But if you have concentric dualband cell then you cannot have SDCCH on the inner zone (1800)

    Hi Vanderley,

    I am also using Common BCCH at dualband cells for Ericssonm, but I haev SDCCH/8 at 1800 subcells and it handles small traffic.
    Can be?

    Hi Pavel
    For Siemens and Alcatel it is for sure that you can’t define SDCCH on the band different from BCCH band.
    I asked ericsson guys and they told me that it is the same there. Maybe there is a bug and you are allowed to define such. I think this this should not be possible. Please check it again and let me know as I am very curious about this.

    Here is a pritout abotu cell logical channels, which I am recieving from BSC.
    As you can see – at 1800 I have SDCCH/8. Tighn now all of them are IDLE, but sometimes it is busy…
