I know this discussion probably belongs in a forum more closely related to transmission. I recently heard the news that two seperate scientists have recently slowed the lightwave to a standstill….
One, Nina Howe of the Roland Institute, using atoms that have been chilled to almost absolute zero and the other, Ronald Walsworth using ubrinium (sp?)atoms at slightly above room temperature.
Either method also slows and compresses the pulse of light as well. There is talk about use of this type of technology in quantum computers, but of course, the ability to manipulate photons seems to have a lot of possible uses.
I’m intrigued, and am wondering if there is any other source of information I can tap about this.
Thanks…
