    HI,
Is anybody using 8-PSK modulation on the BCCH TRX?? There guys from ETSI clearly acknowledging, that using 8-PSK can affect neighbor cell measurement for MS in other cells. This is because of the fact that Time Slot using 8-PSK has generally 2-4dB lower power than the one using GMSK.

Has anybody implemented 8-PSK on BCCH ans seen it’s impact ??

We are using 8-PSK only on BCCH as this is the freq with less interference and no power control. The neighboring slots of the BCCH 1,7 are not using 8-PSK.
We have no problems at this point.
Where you saw this about ETSI. I have to check but I think Siemens recommend EDGE CU to be the BCCH one.

    Hi There,
Well, here are the two links you can check…
    http://list.3gpp.org/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind0209&L=3gpp_tsg_geran_wg1&D=0&T=0&P=466&D=1

This one is a correspondence among 3GPP members . You can also check page 93 in Siemens Document titled GPRS/EGPRS Global Description.

The next link discusses about EDGE in general

Ask how long it will be before you can go back to work or start regular exercise again. ,
