My experience in the Netherlands for residential traffic is that the ‘Busy Hour’ will be between 20:00-21:00, the average call holding time is 2.79 minutes.
Ofcourse this all depemds on the services the customer is using for example carrier select services to abroad etc..
The PSTN traffic characteristics depends on many factors. For example, if a particular switch supports residential customers only, then we could have more than one busy hours. For example, 10:00-11:00 am. and 8:00-9:00 pm (because internet connections). a switch covering business customer usually depicts only one busy hour. Average Holding time is around 20 minutes.
