Hi,
When we create a site, while defining the neighbours we give particulars of the cell id to the BSC.
An MS can track say 6 neighbours at a time. Does the BSC communicate the cell id or just the ARFCN to the MS.Kindly help me out in this. Kindly give me some links to this….

In the dedicated mode , the BTS just sends the BCCH ARFCNs of the neighbor cells to be monitored by the MS. The MS monitors only these BCCH ARFCNs.
This is sent by the BTS in the SAACH frames containing System information 5.
However the BTS also sends something called NCC permitted. For example if the NCC permitted is 2 and 3 ,then the MS will only monitor those BCCH which have these NCC.
