I am utterly confused about the ANSI & ITU-T varinants of SS7 being used. Cn it be said that GSM N/W s use iTU variant & CDMA N/W s use ANSI SS7 . Can anybody help me please
30th June 2004 at 13:32 #38547S.VijayGuestDear AMIT No Need to confuse,
GSM-MAP Belongs to ETSI.
IS41-MAP Belongs to ANSI.ETSI-Handles GSM+WCDMA Related Issues and Makes Related Standards.
ANSI-Handles CDMA ( ONE,2000..ETC..ETC) Related Issues and Makes Related Standards.
ITU-T – ETSI & ANSI Are members.
ITU-T Mainly Concerns abt WORLD INTERCONNECTIVITY through any STANDARDS approved by it.
Thatswhy ISUP Comes Under ITU-T.
But still ISUP Has different EUROPE/AMERICAN/RUSSIAN Versions. But during interconnection they will use common Standard specified by ITU.
Got it…?

1st July 2004 at 19:15 #38549AMITGuestMr S Vijay,
Whenever we read any SS7 docs it gives 2 varinats of the Routing Label Part of teh SIO then under the SCCP/ISUP it shows 2 variants- ITU ( 4-14-14 bits ) & ANSI (5-24-24 bits). AS per what you tolsd ITU is handling integartyion of ANSI & ETSI stnadards . Then Why does they not mentyion any variant of ETSI. Any reason please ??????
2nd July 2004 at 17:21 #38550S.VijayGuestIn this case ETSI+CHINA+JAPAN+RUSSIAN Standards follows ITU-Standard so no need to put special thing.
But ANSI…Always differnt.
US always want to make others to follow things. Most of the countries like ITU which comes under UN.
So you can understand….

3rd July 2004 at 07:41 #38551Mike PierottiGuestI wouldn’t say US in general but MA Bell and her spinoff’s… They want everyone to follow thier standard …. LOL
20th July 2004 at 10:03 #38552GKMGuestIf I may say so that US wants every one to follow them. We watch the world. Things are clear.
This is expressed by some members in the SATELLITE Mags also.

21st July 2004 at 06:31 #38553waleedGuestdear all americans have their own dimension and measuremnt differ than all others, you can see the car speed in mile, weight in lb,long by inches and so on..
21st July 2004 at 08:26 #38554SAJIDGuestIt is quite right that the Americas want their own stnadards but ome najor questions is that with their own ANSI stnadards will we were see CDMA networks seeing Inter-Operator roaming as we have International romaing between various operators in GSM
22nd July 2004 at 03:54 #38555GKMGuestYes.
Americans follow
fps – foot-pound-seconds
Length – Weight- TimeMKS – Meter- Kilograms- Seconds is follwed by many and considersed
by the scientific community as easy to use and implement.Even in mappinging and survey they use fps. The managers, decision makers are comfortable with that system.
We ( asians )are comfortable with both systems. We work like work horses. We know many languages. English is just one of them.
They say we have MTI !
Our english is better than most americans.
Our technical capabilities are great. We are stuck with CAPITAL back logs
Unnecessary socio-cultural problems
leading to over dependence on them.GKM
22nd July 2004 at 06:45 #38556MohammedGuestI feel that the CDMA Technology can never attain International Roaming as is currently achievable in GSM networks. What say folks ?
22nd July 2004 at 11:43 #38557S.VijayGuestI think we can leave this Subject hereafter.
It became like
USA Vs WORLD – Telecom WAR
Lets give some Break Here…..
To be Continued….END
