Hi Guys,
Does anyone know anything about Loitering time in VLR and what are its suggested values. I went through the NSN documentation and with the values defined in my VLR, the definition didnt make any sense. Its set to 2 hrs in my VLR, fyi!
LOITERING – with this parameter you can define the time a subscriber can stay inactive in the VLR. Loitering means that the subscriber has not made or received any calls, or done anything that updates the last active date.
Loitering time starts after Imlicit Deregistration.
MS Data cleaned up from VLR after Loitering time ends.
Depends on the vendor. The VLR is “bolted” to the MSC, hence MSC/VLR.
Generally, it is a parameter that is set as a part of the deployment of the MSC/VLR.
Can be configured using MML – Man Machine Language – commands.
It should not be a “hard-coded” parameter.
You will need to consult your MSC/VLR’s vendor manual, e.g. Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, ZTE, etc..
