Hello, dear GSM experts!
I would be very grateful to you for explanation for one thing i read:
“MS in Standby mode could be in Packet transfer mode”
How is it possible?
Thanks in advance
BR, Lisa

hi lisa,
no it is not possible, only perhaps for a very short time, between the moment the MS is establishing the TBF and the moment it actually gets the TBF. But that’s so short that I doubt anyone should actually worry about this….
where did you read this ?
cheers

Hello, Pix!
My previous post is very short – just the source of that info, because when i was trying to write more that wasn’t applied. this forum is tricky ๐
Thanks a lot for your answer because my mind has been really busy with this thing for some time ๐
The other part – that MS in Ready mode can be in PIM is clear (as i consider :)) – it’s when timer T_READY going. Is it right?
Thanks again!

lisa,
you’re quite a spammer ! ๐
i have the training document in fron of me, and it specifies all the GMM states (Ready/StdBy/Idle) but it doesn’t mention the RR states (PIM/PTM).
So here are the possible combinations:
READY – PTM : MS has a TBF
READY – PIM : TBF has been released but T_READY is not yet expired
STD-BY – PIM : MS is GPRS-ATTACHED but no ongoing TBF
IDLE – PIM : MS is not GPRS-ATTACH (therefore, no TBF)
… as far as i know.
Cheers

It’s not me – it’s all about this forum ๐ it’s too capricious ๐
and thank you very much – now everything is on its place ๐
that weird thing has been bothering me for some time, now i can sleep ๐
i don’t believe this book any more ๐ – the sixth line from the bottom on that precise page?
sorry for my persistence
Have a nice day!
