Hello,
This post answers a thread that has been closed (too many posts maybe ?).
In 1 E1, you have 30 timeslots (= 30 channels). Therefore the offered traffic should be about 16.6 erl (with a blocking rate of 0.1%).

but only 30ts are useful…
Optimizer Guest
the remnant two are also useful [signaling].

of course, they have a “use”, but they’re not useful for us, in the dimensioning.
Da Architect Guest
ts 0 for framing and ts 16 for signalling, sometimes in alcatel they use one more ts for signalling, which make us left with 29 TS for dimensioning.
confirm please!

Confirmed
it is according to your required blocking probability you need.
one may use;
1 TRX => 2 TS PCM
& Other use;
1 TRX => 2.25 TS PCM
Or even 2.5.
which is your option ??

Da architect,
Maybe i’m wrong, but this might be the case when there are 2 abis links (main abis and secondary abis). One TS is reserved for communication with the second abis… but i might be wrong. I’ve no time to check it out, sorry 🙂

Hi,
would like to one E1 can contain how mcuh erlang traffic ??
thanks for answer in advance

Bijoy Guest
Hi Amit
1 E1 can support upto 15 TRX in TDM mode.
Considering a site with 5+5+5 conf,with 35 TCH per cell,you can have an Equipped Traffic of 26.4 *3= 80 Erl approx.
If you use HDLC,this figure will be higher.

HOW MANY ERLANGS ARE THERE IN ONE E1?
HOW TO CALCULATE UTILISATION OF E1
Tanuj Guest
Yes we use 16 and 25 TS for signaling when giving multiple E1 to a site e.g for implementing EDGE
