Blocking probability

    What % blocking probability do most folks use with any of the following scenarious:

    1) Voice traffic only

    2) data Traffic Only

    3) Combined voice + data

    I am looking at public networks type designs.

    Voice — 2%
    Data — 5%

    For design purposes:
    Voice 3%
    Data 5%

    Normally, after you finish your design you must retouch it depending on the market acceptance and demand of quality. You must remember that your definitions impact the capital expense of the project. You should also look upon the $$$ availability. Sometimes it forces to increase the blocking percentage in order to be within the feasability margins. Watch out!!

    Most US LD telecoms use either 1% or 0.5%
    blocking in the busy hour for their LD traffic (on their final circuits).
