Hi
Can anyone tell me how do some people manage to have phone line of 1 or 2 mile(2-3KM) length on a quintum analogue gw in fxs mode?
Quintum themseles say max length is 300m/900ft on analogue gateways.
It all depends on the type of wire used.
If you have a very small gauge wire, like number 26, you reach will be reduced to few hundred feet.
If you have high quality cable, you could reach longer distances.
Aslo, there are units that could “boost” the reach of a 2w loop.
They are called “loop extenders”, or long loop drivers.
They are nothing but a repeater for the DC loop, sending a voltage as high as 110 volts DC to the line side, to be able to reach longer distances.
Most of them do not offer any amplification for the audio, making it low quality solution.
Best regards.
