Can anyone explain why there is low audio volume when connecting 8 analog pstn lines to the Quintum A800.
Volume is low on both ends.
Volume ok when connecting a phone direct to the jack, as well as conecting a phone to the PBX side of A800.
when tryingto go through gateway the audio volume is very low to any destination, multiple carriers, same issue.
I had to compose this mesg 10 times cos the admin for the forum thinks this is an advert…..give me a break man.

7th December 2003 at 18:59 #25833Noname to VijayGuestThere are a couple of plcaes where you could adjust the gain of the Quintum A800. Maybe someone worked on the box before and twiked the volume on the DSP section.
This is a copy of what I have on mine. Seems to work O.K.
config# dsp
config dsp# print
Voice Coding algorithm = 68
Voice Information Field size = 160 bits
Silence Suppression = Enable(1)
Minimum Jitter buffer = 60 msec
Maximum Jitter buffer = 300 msec
Receive Gain (PCM -> IP) = 3 dB
Transmit Gain (IP -> PCM) = 3 dB
Digit Relay = 0
Fax Relay Type = 0
Fax Maximum Rate = 144
Fax Playout FIFO nominal delay = 600
Fax Coding = 0
Idle Time = 0
Answer Supervision Options = 2
config dsp#
If you want to change the volume, put a question mark at the end, and you will see the commands.rxgain will change the volume on one direccion
txgain will change on the other direction.
I think that the numebers are relative, meaning that a negative number (-3) means less volume thatn a (3).
Maybe a Quintum guru could explain it better.
There is another spot to change levels, but I could not find the rascall right now.
Best luck, and about the advertising filters, they work.!!!!
Just try to avoid words that could be confused with advertising.
There are not that many, and you could figure them out easily.
If I say anymore ,Tom will declare me “personna non grata”
7th December 2003 at 19:53 #25834VijayGuestThanks so much for your reply,
I have already tried everything with the gain, at all settings, volme does not increase by much, and if I make the gain max the voice quality goes down. Can there be any oter reason for this issue, like cables? or the analog phone line compatibility, or the gateway itself?

8th December 2003 at 03:15 #25835NonameGuestI will try to make a call pluging a good working phone on the PBX port of the A800.
If the volume is good from that port, but bad when you try to go phone -PSTN-A800, the trouble is the loss betwen the location where the A800 is located and the phone company building.
In same countries, they use very samll gauge wires, and you could have up to close to five miles of wire betwen you and the nearest phone company equipment.
And even on very urban areas you could find this trouble. People complainign of low volume on the middle of big cities.
23rd January 2004 at 20:28 #25836anonymousGuesttry adjusting the PSTN line gain
check current setting with
config line 1 2 printDefault value for both RX and TX on PSTN lines is 0. Range is from -30 to +6
Increase your values with the commands (put new value in place of ‘X’)
config line 1 2 rxgain X
config line 1 2 txgain X
config submitIncreasing gain too much will introduce echo.
