I try to make VOIP phone call using
a H323 gateway behind an ADSL router
with NAT.
I get a dial tone from my gateway,
and when I dial I do not hear
anything : no ringing or answer from
the called party.
Depends on whether your ADSL router/firewall has dynamic h323 support. If not:-
Find out what UDP ports the gateway is using for voice and configure these for static PAT on the ADSL router. Also configure the standard H323 signalling ports as static PAT on the router. I think it will also help if your h323 gw allows you enetr a NAT ip address in the config. That way ti will use the right IP when it embeds its IP in teh H245 messages…#
Hope this helps…
I have a linksys router that does NAT. In order for me to make VoIP calls from Internal Gateway I setup Port forwarding.
VegaStream Gateway:
application: Port #:
SIP 5060-5070
RTP 2000-3000
2 way audio isn’t an issue when setup properly. Please be aware not only is the setup for SIP similar, but you also have to take into account the Port numbers vary by Manufacture.
I hope this helps.
Most gateways & phones have a config option for such applications.
