is there a free gatekeeper for h.323 compatible ip phones available (not in Software, real Hardware). The problem is that i have a changing ip adress and i need a sort of server in the internert where my telephone can log in and be available under a certain number E.164 ? for example. Any ideas ? I’ using four Optiset 300 form Siemens.
If your configuration allows you to put the device behind a fiewall, then perhaps you can use a service like dyndns.org in conjunction with one of the routers that supports this service. this would then give your IP phone a URL as opposed to ad IP if your application supports this.
for instance if you go to http://lapaloma.dyndns.org/dev you will see one of my cisco ATAs. I dont need to know the IP address! I use port forwarding on the router , and the Siemens router automaticly regesters IP updates to dyndns.org.
Hi thanks for the answer, but I think I said some things the wrong way.
a) the phone is called optiset 300 advance
b) the phone does not have the posibility to resolve names (like xyz.dyndns.org)
c) it does not support SIP
I need a service “in the internet” where my phone can register itself, so that i would be available throug a E.164 number. I found some free public SIP services, but i did not find any without SIP working with my phone. I would be glad if somone knows such a public (noncommercial) server.
